FWDLink is an adults-only platform. You must be at least 18 — or older, where the age of majority where you live is higher — to hold an account, to publish, or to buy anything.
This policy explains three separate things that are often confused with each other: the age of the account holder, the age of a person appearing in content, and the age of a buyer. They are checked in different ways and to different standards, and we describe the limits of each below rather than rounding them up.
1. Everyone with an account
Creating an account requires you to confirm you are 18 or older. That confirmation is a declaration by you, not something we verify at signup. If we learn that an account holder is under 18, we close the account and delete the associated data as described in the Privacy Policy.
If you believe a minor is using the Platform, tell us through Report Content & Takedown Requests.
2. Identity verification for payouts and fraud prevention
Sexually explicit content is prohibited on the Platform. Where we ask for a government ID and selfie, that process supports payouts (for example Stripe Connect), business verification, KYC, and fraud prevention.
2.1 What you may submit
- A photograph of a government-issued photo identity document.
- A selfie taken at the time of submission.
Both are uploaded straight into encrypted, private storage. They are not attached to your profile, are never publicly accessible, and are not visible to other users.
2.2 What we check
- That the document is a document. Both images are screened by an automated classifier. Submitting explicit imagery in place of an identity document is rejected outright.
- That the selfie is you. The face in the selfie is compared against the face on the document by an automated face-comparison service. A strong match passes. A weak match is rejected. Anything in between goes to a person — poor lighting should not cost a genuine applicant their account.
- That you are over 18. The date of birth is read from the labelled field on the document by an automated document-analysis service, and the age is computed from it. A date of birth showing an age under 18 is rejected. We do not guess a date of birth from free text.
2.3 Two rules that govern the whole pipeline
- Nothing ambiguous is approved automatically. Where the automated steps disagree, the strictest result wins. A submission that cannot be read is sent to a person, not approved.
- A failure never becomes an approval. If a check errors, the submission is retried and then routed to a person. There is no code path from an error to an approved account.
2.4 Manual review
Submissions go to a human reviewer when the face comparison is borderline, the document cannot be read, the document has expired, or the date of birth cannot be extracted. Reviewers see the images through short-lived links that expire, and every time a link is issued it is logged against the reviewer who requested it.
2.5 Which documents work today
The automated document reader we use is trained on US state-issued driver licences and US passports. It is not trained on other countries' documents or on territorial IDs.
A non-US document does not fail — it produces no readable date of birth, so the submission goes to a person to review by eye. That is slower, and it is a real limitation rather than a preference. Identity checks for payouts may therefore take longer outside the United States. See Availability & Geographic Restrictions.
2.6 What we keep, and for how long
- The images themselves are deleted as soon as a decision is reached, whether that decision is approval or rejection. Images are kept only while a submission is waiting on a human reviewer, and there is a storage expiry as a backstop for submissions that are started and abandoned.
- What we keep is the result: the decision, the comparison score, the date of birth and computed age, the classifier labels, and the last four characters of the document number.
- What we never store: the full document number, the name and address printed on the document, the image bytes after a decision, or any biometric face template. The document-analysis service returns more than we keep; the rest is discarded before it reaches our systems.
- Stored verification results are retained as needed for fraud prevention, tax, compliance, and legal obligations, as described in the Privacy Policy.
2.7 Who processes this data
The images are stored in Amazon Web Services and analysed using Amazon Rekognition (image classification and face comparison) and Amazon Textract (reading the date of birth from the document). AWS processes this data on our instructions as our service provider. Processing takes place in the United States. See the Privacy Policy.
2.8 If you are declined
We tell you the decision. We do not tell you your comparison score or which threshold you missed, because publishing that would let someone tune a fraudulent submission against it.
If you believe the decision is wrong — and face comparison does get it wrong on poor photographs — open a ticket from Support and ask for a manual review. This is covered by section 8 of the Complaints & Appeals Policy.
3. People appearing in content
Verifying the account holder says nothing about anyone else who might appear in their content. That limit still matters — and it is one reason we do not host sexually explicit material.
Sexually explicit content and pornography are not permitted on FWDLink. See the Acceptable Use Policy and the 18 U.S.C. § 2257 Statement.
Content that violates those rules is removed. Reporting remains the most effective check — use Report Content & Takedown Requests.
4. Buyers and visitors
4.1 What we ask
The Platform is for adults. Account holders declare they are 18 or older at signup. Sexually explicit content is not permitted on FWDLink.
4.2 What that confirmation is, and is not
Signup age confirmation is a declaration by the user. It is not identity verification, and we do not present it as one. Identity checks described in section 2 are for payouts, KYC, and fraud prevention.
4.3 Location and availability
Feature availability can vary by place (payment partners, sanctions, and local law). See Availability & Geographic Restrictions.
5. Parents and guardians
If you believe a minor has an account here, or appears in content here, contact us through Report Content & Takedown Requests. Reports involving a possible minor are treated as urgent and the content is restricted while we review. What happens next is set out in the Child Safety & Non-Consensual Content Policy.
Device-level and network-level filtering tools give parents controls that no individual website can. We support their use.
6. Enforcement
- Submitting someone else's identity document, or an altered one, results in termination and may be a criminal offence.
- Publishing or attempting to monetize sexually explicit content results in removal and may result in suspension or termination.
- Helping a minor obtain an account results in termination.
7. Changes
Verification methods change as tools improve and as requirements change. Material changes will be reflected in the “last updated” date above.
