Account settings basics
Account Settings is the hub for your plan, storage usage, password, and account access. Open it from the sidebar or account menu — look for Account, Settings, or Account Settings (routes often include /accountsettings).
The hub is organized into three main sections:
| Section | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Billing | Your plan, payment history, and upgrade paths |
| Storage | Usage, free space, and how media consumes your quota |
| Account | Password, App Lock / vault PIN, and account access |
Billing
- Open Account Settings.
- Select the Billing tab.
- Under Your plan, review the current plan (Starter, Pro, or Business) and any upgrade options.
- Open Payment History when you need past charges or receipts.
Use Billing when you want to understand what you are paying for or change plans. Capacity details are summarized in Plans and storage overview; live usage lives under Storage.
Storage
- Open Account Settings → Storage.
- Check how much space you have used versus your plan limit.
- Use this view when uploads fail or you need to free space before a large batch.
Storage covers photos, videos, documents, and other media that count toward your workspace quota. Deleting albums or files you no longer need is the fastest way to reclaim space on any plan.
Account
- Open Account Settings → Account.
- Update or reset your account password when you need a new sign-in credential.
- Configure App Lock if you want a vault PIN on this device (used for app unlock and for album features that require a PIN).
- Review any account access or deletion options carefully — destructive actions usually ask you to confirm.
App Lock (vault PIN)
App Lock is set in Account Settings. It is separate from share-link passwords:
- App Lock / vault PIN protects opening the app or gated albums on your device.
- Share links use Public, Private, or Password on the link itself — see Sharing an album.
If Album lock asks you to create a PIN, complete it here under App Lock, then return to the album. More detail: How Album lock works.
Example
You share a laptop with a coworker. In Account → App Lock, you enable a PIN so the FWDLink session on that device asks for unlock. Your client share links still use their own passwords; App Lock does not replace those.
Good habits
- Keep your sign-in email and password somewhere recoverable (password manager).
- After changing your password, sign in again on other devices if they still use the old credential.
- Check Storage before a big upload day.
- Use Billing → Your plan before assuming a feature needs a different tier — many tools are available on Starter with storage as the main growth lever.
Troubleshooting
I opened Account Settings but landed on Billing
That is the common default. Switch to Storage or Account using the section cards at the top.
Password reset email never arrives
Check spam, confirm the email on the account, and try again. You can also reach Support if you are locked out.
App Lock asks for a PIN I never set
Complete PIN setup under Account → App Lock. If you forgot an existing PIN, use Forgot PIN? on the unlock screen and verify with your account password when prompted.
Uploads say I’m out of space
Open Storage, remove unused media, or upgrade from Billing. See Plans and storage overview.
