Ad Center

See Advertise on FWDLink for a short look at where ads show and what you pay for. Ad Center is where you run a Sponsored ad on FWDLink. You can create an ad, boost a Marketplace listing you already posted, or boost your Page. Every ad shows the word Sponsored and your name. FWDLink does not use Google ads.

Open it from Local in the work menu. Ad Center is for creating an ad. Your ads is its own page, for the ads you already run.

Note: Ads run in a city you pick from the list, plus a trade or category when the ad allows one. They are not aimed at a person’s exact location, age, gender, or anything else about who they are. Job GPS on your photos is not used for ads.

Three ways to advertise

You want Choose Emphasis
A new offer, with your own photo and words Create an ad Across FWDLink, Discover, or Marketplace
A listing you already published Boost a listing Across FWDLink, Discover, or Marketplace
Your Page, in one city and one category Boost a Page Relevant places for that Page, including Pages

Share links you send a client, and quote pages, stay free of ads.

Create an ad

Use this when the offer is not already a Marketplace listing.

  1. Open Ad Center → Create an ad.
  2. Add one photo. A wide photo looks best, about 1200 by 900. We show the whole photo, so it is not cropped. JPG, PNG, or WebP, under 10 MB. You need the right to use that photo.
  3. Write a headline (40 characters) and, if you want, a short text (90 characters).
  4. Choose where a tap goes: My page, or A link to a website. www.example.com is enough. A full https:// address works too. A website opens in a new tab.
  5. Choose what it is for, the city, the trade when you use one, where it shows, and 7, 14, or 30 days.
  6. Confirm the ad is accurate, you can use the photo, and it follows the Acceptable Use Policy.
  7. Check the preview, then publish. The button shows the rate for that run.

Boost a listing

Use this when the offer is already on Marketplace.

  1. Open Ad Center → Boost a listing.
  2. Pick a listing. You see your 3 most recent. Search if you have an older one.
  3. Drafts, archived listings, and sold listings are not offered. The listing needs a photo.
  4. The headline and photo start from that listing. You can edit the words.
  5. Choose the city, where it shows, and how many days, then publish.

The ad opens that listing. It still says Sponsored.

Boost a Page

Use this when you want your Page emphasized for one city and one category. It can show on Pages and in other relevant places on FWDLink.

  1. Open Ad Center → Boost a Page.
  2. Choose your Page.
  3. Pick a city and a category. Both are required. The category is the trade you do, such as plumbing or roofing.
  4. Choose 7, 14, or 30 days, confirm the standards, and publish.

Your Page shows as Sponsored when someone is browsing that city and a category or trade that matches, including on Pages. Browsing all Pages, with no category selected, does not use that match. FWDLink may still show it in other relevant places.

Where an ad shows

Choosing where it shows sets the emphasis. FWDLink can also show the ad in other relevant places on the platform, including the Library and around Discover. Share links and quote pages stay free of ads.

Emphasis Where it is set up to show
Across FWDLink Relevant places, including Discover, Marketplace, and the Library
Discover The Discover feed and relevant places around it. We may also show it elsewhere when it fits
Marketplace Marketplace in the city you chose, and other relevant local places
Boost a Page Pages for that city and category, and other relevant places for that Page

Marketplace follows the city. An ad for Miami does not show when someone is browsing another city’s marketplace. In the listing grid, a Sponsored tile uses the same photo shape as the listings around it and says Sponsored. On a listing page, the same city ads sit in You may also be interested in, mixed in with the other listings. A Sponsored card shows in each row when an ad is running for that city. A Page boost for that city can appear there too.

Discover includes the feed. A Sponsored ad can show at the top, between posts, and in the Sponsored box beside Discover on a desktop. Those spots take turns when there is more than one ad. The city is still required, it is on the ad, and it is part of the price. Discover is not limited to people in that city, and a Discover ad may also show in other relevant places.

Library, on a desktop, can show Sponsored ads under Team activity. Up to three show at once. When there are more, they take turns. The phone Library does not show these ads.

Pages follows the city and the category for a Page boost. A plumbing Page boost is not matched to a roofing category, or to a different city. In the Pages directory, the Sponsored tile sits in the grid or the list with the other pages. It can still show in other relevant places on FWDLink.

A trade on a normal ad sets the price and is shown with the ad. On Marketplace, the ad still shows for the whole city, including when someone is not filtering by that trade.

Important: Client share links and quote pages do not show Sponsored ads. An ad is not FWDLink’s endorsement. If the ad goes to another website, that site has its own terms and privacy policy.

What you can target

You pick a city, and an emphasis for where the ad shows. Some ads also use a trade or category. FWDLink may also show the ad in other relevant places. Ads are not aimed at who someone is.

City Trade or category
A service Required. Pick it from the suggestions. Optional
Something for sale Required Optional
Housing Required Not allowed
A job Required Not allowed
Boost a Page Required Required

Type the city, then choose it from the list. A city you only typed, without picking a suggestion, will not publish.

Housing and job ads are city only. They cannot add a trade. They can run across FWDLink, with the emphasis on Discover, Marketplace, or both.

Ad Center does not offer:

  • A person’s exact location, or the GPS stored on job photos
  • Age, gender, race, religion, health, income, or family
  • Audiences built from other websites

What an ad may say

The ad has to be a real offer, in plain language.

You confirm three things before it can run:

The ad always shows Sponsored and your name. That label is not optional.

These are not allowed in the headline or the text:

  • Adult or sexual offers
  • “Guaranteed leads,” get-rich claims, crypto giveaways, or work-from-home scams
  • Pretending the ad is from FWDLink
  • Pharmaceuticals, casinos, or sportsbooks

Describe the work, the item, the housing, or the job. If the wording is blocked, rewrite it in plain language and try again.

How long it runs

Choose 7, 14, or 30 days. A longer run costs less per day.

From Your ads in the Local menu, open the ⋯ menu on an ad. Edit and Copy open Ad Center so you can change it there.

  • Insights — the rate for this run, views and clicks from times the ad was shown, and estimated reach.
  • Edit — change the photo, words, city, or where it goes, then save. On an ended ad, saving starts a new run.
  • Pause — the ad stops showing. The end date does not move. If the days run out while it is paused, it ends.
  • Resume — it shows again, if the end date is still ahead.
  • Copy — start a new ad with the same photo and words, so you can make a similar one.
  • Run again — on an ended ad, start that same ad for a new run.
  • End — it stops. You can still copy it or run it again later.

When the last day passes, the ad ends on its own.

How the price works

The price on the button is the rate for that run. You see it before you publish, with an estimated reach. Your card is charged that amount when you publish a new ad or run an ended ad again. Saving an ad that is already running, or pausing it, does not charge the card again. The rules for that charge, including when it is not refunded, are in the Terms of Service and the Refund & Cancellation Policy. The price moves with the kind of ad, the trade, the city, where it shows, and how many days it runs. The reach is a small range for that city and that length. It includes people who are not signed in. A longer run and a larger city can reach more people. Estimated reach is an estimate, not a promised number of views.

  • Busy trades cost more. Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, and general contracting are the highest. Painting, pest control, pool service, flooring, concrete, windows and doors, drywall, carpentry, and fencing sit in the middle.
  • Larger cities cost more than a smaller city.
  • A Page boost costs more than a listing boost. Across FWDLink costs more than an emphasis on Discover. Marketplace sits between them.
  • Housing and job ads cost more than a plain service ad, because they can target a city only.
  • Something for sale costs a little less than the same ad as a service.
  • The rate is at least $15 for a run.
  • 14 days and 30 days cost less per day than 7 days.

The number on your screen is the one that applies. These examples are a 7-day run so you can see how the rate moves:

Example Rate
Ad across FWDLink, no trade, smaller city $28 ($4 a day)
Same ad, plumbing $45
Plumbing, emphasis on Discover $22
Page boost, plumbing, smaller city $67 ($10 a day)
Plumbing Page boost in Miami, 30 days $311

Busy trades in larger cities, on a Page, for 30 days, are the top of the rate. A short Discover ad in a smaller city is the bottom.

What people see

A Sponsored ad shows:

  • The word Sponsored
  • Your name
  • Your photo, headline, and text
  • A tap to your Page, your listing, or the website you entered

On Pages, a boost also shows the trade and the city.

FAQs

Can I send someone to my own website?

Yes. On Create an ad, choose A link and enter the site, like www.example.com. It opens in a new tab. Your Page and a boosted listing stay on FWDLink.

Why can’t I add a trade to a housing or job ad?

Those ads can target a city only. A trade would narrow them by the kind of person or household, and Ad Center does not do that.

I boosted my Page and don’t see it on Pages.

Open Pages for the same city, then choose the category or trade you used. “All Pages,” with no category, does not use that match. The ad can still show in other relevant places on FWDLink.

Does Marketplace only show my ad to that trade?

No. Marketplace uses the city. The trade is on the ad and in the price. Someone browsing that city’s marketplace can see it even if they did not filter by trade. The same ad may also show in other relevant places on FWDLink.

Can I change the ad after it is published?

Open Your ads, then the ⋯ menu, and choose Edit or Copy. Pause or End stops it. An ended ad can be copied or run again from that same menu. The words and photo people see are the ones you saved.

No. Share links and quote pages stay free of ads.

No. Sponsored means an advertiser placed it at the rate shown in Ad Center. The offer is theirs. See Advertisements in the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy.

Can I get the charge back?

The charge is for the run, not for a promised number of views. Once the ad is live, that charge is not refunded, except where the law requires it, or where you were charged twice or the wrong amount. If we reject the ad before it starts, we refund that charge. The details are in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Need more help?

If an ad will not publish, check the city (pick a suggestion), the photo, and the confirmation box. For anything still stuck, use Contact support and tell us the headline and the city.
